At 6SHINE Auto Spa, our ceramic coating services are designed to provide your vehicle with a durable layer of protection while enhancing the depth, gloss and clarity of the paint.
Every coating service begins with proper preparation to ensure the surface is clean, decontaminated and ready for a strong bond. Once applied, the ceramic coating creates a slick, hydrophobic barrier that helps protect against environmental contamination, UV exposure, road grime and everyday wear while making routine maintenance easier.
Whether you're protecting a brand-new vehicle or preserving freshly corrected paint, we tailor the preparation and coating process to the condition of your vehicle and your protection goals.
Is It Worth It?
If you want long-term paint protection, enhanced gloss, and easier maintenance, ceramic coating can be a great investment. However, it’s important to have realistic expectations about its capabilities.

Paint Correction Steps Before Applying Ceramic Coating:
Proper paint correction is a crucial step before applying a ceramic coating because the coating will lock in the current condition of the paint—including existing swirls, scratches, oxidation and other imperfections.
At 6SHINE Auto Spa, we do not apply ceramic coatings without a minimum Paint Enhancement performed beforehand. This ensures the surface is properly refined and prepared before the coating is installed. For the best overall finish, we recommend at least a 1-Step Paint Correction+ , depending on the condition of your vehicle’s paint.
Our goal is not simply to apply a coating—it’s to ensure the coating bonds with the paint underneath and looks its best before that protection is locked in for years to come.
Restore. Refresh. Revive. Protect
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer applied to the exterior of a vehicle. Once cured, it forms a chemical bond with the factory paint, creating a protective layer that enhances the car's appearance and protects it from various environmental contaminants.
💦 BENEFITS OF CERAMIC COATING 💦
🔹️Protection from UV Rays:
• UV & Oxidation Resistance: Prevents paint from fading or deteriorating due to sun exposure and harmful UV rays.
🔹️Chemical Resistance:
• Shields the paint from acidic contaminants like bird droppings, tree sap, and road salts but these contaminants must also not be left on the surface.
🔹️Hydrophobic Effect:
• Water beads off effortlessly , reducing water spots and making the car easier to clean. Ceramic coating is well-known for its hydrophobic characteristics. This means that water, mud, and road grime have a much harder time clinging to the paint surface. Instead, they slide off easily, creating the signature “water beading” effect.
🔹️Enhanced Gloss:
• Enhanced Gloss & Shine: Ceramic coatings give vehicles a deep, mirror-like shine, enhancing the paint’s clarity and depth
🔹️Scratch & Swirl Mark Resistance:
• While not fully scratch-proof, ceramic coatings add a hard layer of protection that reduces the risk of light scratches and swirl marks
🔹️Protection:
• Long-Lasting Protection: Unlike traditional wax or sealants, ceramic coatings provide durable protection that can last years instead of months.
🔹️ What Ceramic Coating Doesn’t Do 🔹️
• Not a Substitute for Paint Protection Film (PPF): It doesn’t protect against rock chips or deep scratches.
• Not Permanent: While it lasts longer than wax (2–5 years), it will eventually wear off, Especially if not taken care of.
• Doesn’t Eliminate the Need for Washing: It makes cleaning easier but doesn’t make the car "self-cleaning."

Ceramic coating pricing does not include paint correction. We recommend an in-person consultation to assess your vehicle’s paint and determine the best preparation needed.
When paint correction and ceramic coating are booked together, we can often offer discounted package pricing based on the vehicle’s condition and selected services.
Even though ceramic coating is durable, it is not completely permanent. Over time, exposure to the elements and daily wear as well as poor wash techniques will cause it to lose some of its effectiveness. Knowing when it is time for a refresh is essential to keep your car protected.
~ Reduced Water Beading......
If you notice that rain or wash water no longer beads up and rolls off the paint as effortlessly as before, it’s a clear sign the hydrophobic layer is wearing thin. This is often one of the earliest indicators that reapplication may be needed.
~ Diminished Gloss.......
When the once vibrant, reflective shine of your car begins to fade, the ceramic coating is likely breaking down. A duller appearance, even after a wash, signals that the protective layer is not working at its full potential.
~ Increased Dirt and Grime Buildup.......
If your car starts attracting dirt more easily and requires more effort to clean, the ceramic coating may no longer be providing its original level of protection. San Diego drivers who frequently commute or park outdoors will notice this change sooner due to heavier environmental exposure.
~ When to Reapply Ceramic Coating......
Ceramic coatings are designed to last anywhere from two to five years, depending on the quality of the product and how well the vehicle is maintained. Factors such as how often the car is washed, whether it is parked in a garage or outdoors, and the specific type of coating used all influence reapplication timelines.

1. CURING PERIOD 💧
Avoid washing your vehicle for the first 10 days. Keep it away from rain, sprinklers, or any type of water exposure as it can impact the coating’s durability.
If possible, park indoors during this period to allow proper curing.
2. WASHING 🧼
For best results, hand wash using the two-bucket method with grit guards.
Use only pH-neutral soap — never household cleaning products.
Avoid brush-style automatic car washes; instead, choose touchless washes and always follow up with proper drying.
3. DRYING 💧
Use a dedicated microfiber drying towel after every wash, including touchless washes.
Do not air dry or leave water sitting on the surface — standing water can leave mineral spots and degrade the coating.
4. CONTAMINANTS
Remove bird droppings, bug splatter, sap, and pollen as soon as possible.
Use a ceramic-safe quick detailer and a clean microfiber towel — always ensure proper lubrication when spot-cleaning.
5. AVOID HARSH CHEMICALS ⚠️
Harsh cleaners can break down the ceramic layer, reducing its effectiveness.
Avoid strong acids, degreasers, or abrasive products.
Stick to pH-neutral soaps and gentle microfiber wash mitts for best results.
6. ACID VS. ALKALINE ☣️
• Acidic (pH 0–6): gradually degrades and strips protection
• Neutral (pH 7): safe and recommended
• Alkaline (pH 8–14): chemically reacts and weakens the coating
Always use pH-neutral products to preserve the coating’s longevity.
