What is a 1-step?
A 1-step paint correction – involves a single polishing step aimed at improving gloss and removing very light defects. In a one-stage service, typically a medium-cut polish is used with a medium polishing pad on a dual-action polisher. This combination can eliminate faint swirl marks and hazing and add shine in one pass. Different detailers may try variations of this process: for example, using a slightly heavier cutting pad with a mid-grade polish to get a bit more defect removal, or using a very fine polish on a soft pad to maximize gloss. However, any single-step approach is inherently a compromise. If you push for more cutting power in one step, you usually end up leaving micro-hazing or holograms that aren’t fully refined. If you go too gentle, you achieve high gloss but leave many defects still visible.
Why choose a 1-Step?
Less aggressive — removes less clear coat than a multi-stage correction.
Great improvement for daily drivers — typically targets roughly 50–75% defect reduction, depending on the paint and defects.
Restores gloss and clarity — often gives the vehicle a dramatic visual improvement without chasing every defect.
Less time & lower cost — fewer polishing stages means less labour.
Excellent before ceramic coating — creates a cleaner, glossier surface before coating while avoiding unnecessary correction.
Better choice for already decent paint — a 2-step can be excessive if the majority of defects are relatively light.

Choose a 1-Step when you want a major improvement in gloss and paint condition without chasing every defect. Choose a 2-Step when maximum defect removal and a higher level of paint refinement are the priority.
1-STEP DA PAINT CORRECTION
Our 1-Step DA Paint Correction is designed to significantly improve your vehicle’s paint in a single polishing stage. Using a dual-action polisher, carefully selected pads and professional mid step compounds/polishes, we target common paint defects while restoring clarity, depth and gloss to the entire vehicle.
EXPECTED RESULTS
Approximately 50–70% defect removal, depending on paint type, hardness and overall condition.
Designed to improve:
• Light to moderate swirl marks
• Wash-induced marring
• Light scratches
• Haze and dullness
• Minor oxidation
• Reduced paint clarity and gloss
Deep scratches, heavy defects and imperfections that have penetrated too far into the clear coat may remain. Safe paint preservation always takes priority over chasing 100% defect removal.
